WMG winter walk details – Sat 1 February 2014

This year’s WMG winter walk will be based on the picturesque village of Tanworth-in-Arden, Warwickshire (between Redditch and Solihull). The distance will be around 5 or 6 miles, partly on-road but mostly on footpaths and a green lane across undulating countryside. There is plenty of street parking in the village, including around the village green, and also an upmarket pub where people might like to meet from 12.30 onwards and have a quick drink before we set off. It is however too smart for a group of muddy ramblers returning from a winter walk, and we shall dine elsewhere afterwards [venue yet to be decided – I am sampling one recommended pub on 17 Jan]. As it’s likely to be wet underfoot, it may be a good idea to bring a change of trousers (and definitely to wear boots or wellies).
